HEAD CHEF

Head Chef/Kitchen Manager

Job description

About Us

Earl’s is a day and night deli. We’re combining all the things we love: great food, incredible coffee, world class drinks and warm, friendly service to create the ultimate neighbourhood destination. We aren’t reinventing things. We’re just doing them properly.

The Role

We are looking for a skilled, reliable Head Chef/Kitchen Manager to join our founding team.

This is a huge opportunity for the right person. It’s a chance to build a kitchen directly from the ground up alongside two experienced business owners and grow an already successful space into something even bigger.

The ideal candidate must be:

- Passionate - You have to love food. Genuinely, really love it. Our menu is taking culinary influences from all over the world and your passion for its development should shine through.

- A problem solver - We are both thinkers and doers at Earl’s. You have to be ready to solve complex problems at short notice and roll with the punches when things get tough.

- A leader - Standards are everything in this game. We expect you to uphold the highest possible standards and set the tone for all staff throughout the business.

- Detail orientated - We don’t just repurpose dishes that already exist; we reinvent them. This only happens when we focus on the detail; doing the smallest things right to make a big difference to our customers.

- Accountable - Things don’t always go to plan and you need to be ready to shoulder the responsibility of senior management.

Non-negotiables we expect from you:

- Minimum 2 years experience in a similar role, ideally in a city centre

- Experience working in a small kitchen with junior staff

- Strong organisational skills and the ability to plan ahead

- Nurture and develop junior team members, sharing your experience and knowledge to build both skills and morale

- Drive brand standards daily across behaviour and practice - this cannot be emphasised enough

- Impeccable time management

- An expert level understanding of stock control, budgeting and efficiency measures

- Thorough understanding and implementation of current food safety policies

- Monitoring and enforcement of due diligence and company process

- Full responsibility of the back of house operations and processes

- Used to working in a fast-paced, demanding environment

What can we offer you?

- 40 hour contract
- Competitive rate of pay plus tips
- 28 days holiday
- Sociable closing times (6pm Mon-Weds, 10pm Thurs-Sat, 8pm Sun)
-
Freedom to develop and work on your own ideas; developing menus, specials and bringing new ideas to Earl’s customers
- An opportunity to be part of the founding team of an exciting new business
- Casual dress
- Free food on shift
- Staff discount when not on shift
